Lagos State Grassroots Sports Street Soccer Competition 2024 Kicks Off on October 1st, 2024
The Senior Special Assistant To The Governor On Grassroots Sports Development, is proud to announce the first edition of the Grassroots Sports Lagos State Street Soccer Competition 2024. This exciting event is designed to promote grassroots sports development, community engagement, and national unity across the 57 Local Government area in the state.
Date: October 1st, 2024 (Nigeria’s Independence Day)
Time: 9am – 4pm
Host: Oshodi-Isolo Local Government
Participating Local Governments: 20
Participating Streets: 2 per Local Government (Total: 40 teams)
The one-day tournament aims to discover and nurture young talents, foster community spirit, and celebrate Nigeria’s Independence Day through sports. The competition will feature 40 teams, representing 20 Local Governments, with two streets participating from each council.

Competition Highlights:
– Knockout tournament format
– Group stage and knockout stages
– Top teams will receive cash prizes and trophies
– Best Player award
-Most Disciplined Local Government Award
-Most Supportive Local Government Chairman Award
Tournament Rules:
– Each match lasts 20 minutes (10 minutes per half)
– 5 players per team (including goalkeeper)
– Rolling substitutions allowed
– Yellow and red cards apply
The event is open to the public, and admission is free. We invite all sports enthusiasts, community leaders, and Lagos residents to join us in celebrating Nigeria’s Independence Day through sports.
Team registration will be done through the Supervisory Councilor on Youths & Sports of the 20 Local Government are to register two teams each.
